Corporate solidarity with our Egyptian colleague Mohamed el-Baqer

Mohamed el-Baqer is a human rights lawyer and director of the Adalah Center for Rights and Freedoms, which promotes civil and political rights in Egypt. As a lawyer, he has represented human rights defenders, minorities and civilians tried by military courts and who was recently sentenced to 4 years in prison for "spreading false information to undermine national security" through social networks. The conviction was handed down by an emergency state security court, whose decisions are final through the courts: the only way to annul these sentences is by resorting to the President of Egypt, or his delegates, who have the authority to ratify or annul said sentences and / or reduce penalties.
