Useful guide that shows the invisibility of asbestos cancers and the reasons for it, exploring the underrecognition of cancers due to occupational exposure and pointing out some recommendations for the improvement of the system for recognizing asbestos cancers as occupational diseases.
The “Guide: The causes of under-recognition of asbestos cancers by the Spanish Social Security system (2001-2016)” prepared by Alfredo Menéndez Navarro (Professor of History of Science), Montserrat García Gómez (Doctor of Medicine and Surgery) and Ángel Javier Gallego Fernández (Resident Intern Physician), refers to the collaboration of the ORIA, PAJARES & ASOCIADOS ABOGADOS Law Firm specifically in Chapter 4 which talks about “Lack of request for a contingency of occupational disease due to asbestos cancers and procedural causes and reasons for rejection of the denied applications ”in which it says verbatim: With the generous collaboration of two specialized law firms (Colectivo Ronda de Barcelona and Oria y Pajares de Madrid), we have analyzed a small but significant number of cases to learn about said itineraries and identify causes of dismissal of the contingency.
